Two Line graphs with markers and ErrorBars

This tutorial will show how to use the TechGraph Editor to display error bars on two Line graphs.  The first line will have “Up Only” error bars and the second line will have “Down Only” error bars. Shown below are the settings in the Data Table and the Edit Chart used to create this chart.   

Data Table – Sample data can easily be changed or replaced by pasting data from an external worksheet.
  • Graph Type is Line.
  • X Data Type is Label. Labels for the X Axis are entered in X Data column. 
  • Graph A contains the mean values for the first line.
  • Graph B contains the corresponding error values for Graph A.
  • Graph C contains the mean values for the second line.
  • Graph D contains the corresponding error values for Graph C.

Note:   Click on the “Help” button on the toolbar to find out how to edit, delete, copy and paste in the Data Table.

Edit Chart – A set of icons (Titles, Settings, X Axis, Y Axis, Curves and Error Bars) to change the settings and appearance of the chart.      

     Settings  – specify the color of line and markers for Graph A and C.         

  •  Click on the “LimeGreen” (Graph Style) for Graph A to show the line Style for Graph A pop-up.  You can change the Color, Thickness and Thickness for Line A.    Checkbox Line with Markers is checked.  Select Color, Type and Size for markers. Click on Apply to save the changes.  Repeat this step for Graph C.  For this example, “Dark Green” color is assigned to Graph C.

    Y axis

  • Enter values in Minimum, Maximum and Major Div to set the Y Axis scale and divisions. Leave these values empty for automatic scaling.

     Curves & Error Bars       

  • Select “Error Bar On” from Error Bar list for Graph A and C.
  • Click on “Up Only” (Error Bar Format) for Graph B. For this example, “Up Only“ is selected from the Error Format list.  Color (“Black”) is selected for the error bar color.   Use the Thickness selection list to change the error bar style. Click on Apply to save the changes.  Repeat this step for Graph D.  “Down Only” is assigned to the error format for Graph D.

      Edit Chart Toolbar Options

  •  Print Chart prints your chart.
  •  Download Image downloads your chart as an SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) file or image file(PNG, JPEG, TIF, PDF).
  •  Drawing Objects customize your chart with labels, lines, arrows, circles, images, and logos.
