Line with Right Y Axis Break in Log Scale

If you are a registered user, you can click on the Edit Graph button to open the TechGraph Editor showing the data and settings of this sample chart. You can review and edit the data and settings to learn about the features and capabilities of the application. Shown below are the steps in the Data Table and in the Edit Chart used to create this chart.        

Data Table
  • Graph Type is Line.
  • X Data Type is Label. Labels for the X Axis are entered in X Data column.
  • Graph A contains the Right Y Axis data. It has a range of insignificant data (10-1000) that can be omitted.
Edit Chart      

    Settings

  • Click on Graph Style for Graph A to set the Color, Thickness, and Type for Line A. Check Line with Markers and Line thru Markers. Set the Marker Color, Type and Size. Note that you can set the marker color to be different from the line color.
  • Click on Frame Style/Bkgrd. Check Background On. Select Color and Pattern for the frame background.

    Curves and Error Bars

  • Select “Right Y” from Left/Right Y Axis list for Graph A.

     Y Axis

  • Select “Right Y” from the Axis Selection list.
  • Select “Log” from the Scale list.
  • Click on Axis Format. Uncheck Auto Format On. Check Power notation for Log Axes.
  • Click on Major Grid. Check Grid On. Select “1–Line Type” from the Line Type list.
  • Click on Minor Grid. Check Grid On. Select “2–Line Type” from the Line Type list.
  • Enter values in Minimum and Maximum to set the entire Right Y Axis scale. Enter values for Minimum Start, Maximum End and Major Div to set the scale before the break.
    • Values for this example are Minimum = 1, Maximum = 100,000, Minimum Start = 1, and Maximum End = 5.
  • Click on Axis Break to show the Right Y Axis Break menu. Enter values for From, To, At(Percent), and Break Location.  Enter values for Minimum Start and Maximum Start for After Break. Check Enable Break.
    • Values for this example are From = 10, To = 1,000, At(Percent) = 30, Minimum Start = 1,000, and Maximum End = 100,000.

     Edit Chart Toolbar Options

  •  Print Chart prints your chart.
  •  Download Image downloads your chart as an SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) file or image file(PNG, JPEG, TIF, PDF).
  •  Drawing Objects customize your chart with labels, lines, arrows, circles, images, and logos.
